Spousal Support
The Supreme Court of Canada has ruled that spousal support provisions contained in separation agreements between spouses - even though intended to be "final" - may be revisited in the right circumstances. These circumstances include agreements for set amounts of support for set periods of time. Miglin v. Miglin, SCC/2003.
Child Support
You may be able to seek child support or an increase in child support retroactive to 3 years ago or longer depending on your circumstances. D.B.S v. S.R.G, SCC/2006.
Injuries from Car Accidents
In 2003 new provincial legislation "capped" many car accident claims at $2,500. However, many claims fall outside the cap and entitle the injured person to damages to be determined by the court. If you believe your injury may be beyond the cap you should contact a lawyer.
